Christ of the Sacred Heart

Christ of the Sacred Heart is a colossal statue standing 75 feet tall atop El Morro, constructed with a steel frame in the upper section and fiberglass lower portions. The figure with outstretched arms dominates the coastal landscape and remains visible from various points in the surrounding area.

Antonio Pequeño Guerrero commissioned this statue to replace a small wooden cross where locals had traditionally left flowers as acts of faith. The new structure carries forward this religious tradition in monumental form.

The statue embodies religious devotion and draws pilgrims and visitors seeking prayer or reflection at this coastal location. Its outstretched posture creates a strong visual presence that merges spiritual meaning with the surrounding landscape.

The location is accessible on foot from the parking area, though the path slopes upward and requires sturdy footwear. The best time to visit is early morning or late afternoon when the sun is less intense.
