Cabrillo Bridge, Historic concrete bridge in Balboa Park, San Diego, United States
The Cabrillo Bridge spans 450 feet across Cabrillo Canyon and rises 120 feet high, featuring seven reinforced concrete arches and fourteen hollow support pillars.
Franklin D. Roosevelt participated in the dedication ceremony on April 12, 1914, marking the completion of California's first multiple-arched cantilever bridge for the Panama-California Exposition.
The bridge design combines Spanish architectural traditions with Roman aqueduct elements, reflecting the cultural aspirations of early twentieth-century San Diego.
The structure underwent a $23.3 million renovation in 2014, including road repaving, sidewalk repairs, lighting installation, and seismic stability improvements.
During the 1915 Exposition, a man-made lagoon beneath the bridge mirrored its arches, while aquatic plants decorated the surrounding landscape.
