San Diego Christian College, private, conservative evangelical Christian college located in El Cajon, California
San Diego Christian College is a private, non-profit college in Santee, California, offering programs in religious studies alongside general academic subjects. The campus includes classrooms, laboratories, a chapel, and a library.
The college was founded in 1970 by a group of Christian leaders, including author Tim LaHaye, under the name Christian Heritage College. It was accredited in 1984 and took its current name in 2005 to better reflect its location in San Diego County.
The name of the college reflects both its location in San Diego County and its Christian mission. On campus, faith is woven into daily life through chapel gatherings that students and staff attend together throughout the week.
The college offers two-year and four-year degrees as well as graduate programs, so the type of visit may vary depending on the purpose of your trip. The campus is located in a suburban part of Santee, about 20 miles (32 km) east of downtown San Diego, and is easiest to reach by car.
One of the college's co-founders, Tim LaHaye, later became famous as the co-author of the Left Behind series, one of the best-selling Christian fiction series ever written. That connection gave the college a level of name recognition in evangelical circles far beyond California.
