Mount Jurupa

Mount Jurupa is a mountain summit in Riverside County, California that rises to about 2,224 feet and offers expansive views across the surrounding valleys. From the top, you can see across toward Riverside, Fontana, San Bernardino, and Moreno Valley on clear days.

The mountain takes its name from a land grant that dated back to 1838, when the area was part of Mission San Gabriel's territory. This connection to the Spanish mission period shapes the region's heritage.

The Jurupa Mountains Discovery Center at the mountain's base maintains an Earth Science Museum featuring dinosaur eggs, fossils, and Native American artifacts.

A hiking trail from Martin Tudor Jurupa Hills Regional Park leads to the summit with moderate elevation gain, taking about 1 to 2 hours depending on your pace. Bring plenty of water and sun protection, as the exposed route offers little shade.

From the notably flat summit, you can watch commercial aircraft on approach to Ontario Airport while taking in the view of the Inland Empire. This unexpected combination of mountain vistas and air traffic creates a memorable experience.
