Anthem is a master-planned residential community situated in the foothills north of Phoenix. The area features lakes, parks, golf courses, and sports facilities that serve the local population.
Development began in 1998 when Del Webb Corporation founded this planned community. The project established residential neighborhoods and community infrastructure from the start.
The Veterans Memorial presents five marble pillars that represent military branches and align with the Great Seal of the United States each November 11.
Parks and sports facilities are easy to locate, with clear signage and multiple access points throughout the area. Many open spaces are accessible to visitors, though some facilities may have specific operating hours.
The area is split between two different administrative jurisdictions, with the western portion part of Phoenix and the eastern section in unincorporated Maricopa County. This division creates an unusual governance situation for what appears to be a single community.
