Templo de San Carlos Borromeo de Aldama, Chihuahua

The Templo de San Carlos Borromeo de Aldama is a Baroque temple featuring carefully carved stone frames around its semicircular entrance doorway and an elaborate facade with detailed architectural elements. The structure displays two choir windows and a molded cornice that showcase the craftsmanship of its builders.

The temple's construction was ordered in 1783 by Commander General Felipe de Neve following attacks that had damaged the area. This rebuild was part of efforts to strengthen the region's settlements.

The temple serves as a religious center for the Aldama community, where locals gather for worship and religious celebrations. It shapes the spiritual and social life of the surrounding neighborhood.

The building stands at the intersection of 7th and Gutierrez streets and is easy to locate. Visitors should be aware that ongoing maintenance work may occasionally affect access to certain areas.

The temple absorbed the nearby Santa Ana de Chinarras mission in 1767, transforming from a San Jeronimo mission into its current form. This merger of two religious sites demonstrates how early missionary structures evolved and consolidated over time.
