Quintas Carolinas, Historic mansion estate in Chihuahua, Mexico

Quintas Carolinas is a large mansion estate in Chihuahua featuring twin observation towers and a central glass dome, with salmon-colored corridors extending outward. Mosaic-paved walkways and stone staircases connect different areas of the sprawling grounds.

The estate was built in 1896 when Luis Terrazas purchased the land and commissioned the mansion as a gift for his wife Carolina Cuilty. The name honors his wife and represents an important chapter in the wealth and family history of late 19th-century Chihuahua.

The chapel dedicated to Saint Charles Borromeo sits within the grounds and shows how religious spaces were central to estates of this era. The visible stables and workers' quarters reveal how daily life was organized across the property.

The mansion is located north of downtown and is easily reached by car or public transport, with ample grounds to explore on foot. Entry is free, and exhibition spaces and a projection room are available for learning more about the property.

The city's tram line was extended in 1909 specifically to reach the estate, showing how much it influenced the development of urban infrastructure. This rail connection was a major advantage at the time and made the property more accessible than many other locations in the region.
