El Calvario Church

El Calvario Church is a yellow-hued baroque hermitage featuring three prominent arches at its entrance that symbolize the crosses of Golgotha. The structure sits at the southeastern edge of Antigua Guatemala with a garden area next to it.

The hermitage was established during the colonial period as part of the spiritual development of Antigua Guatemala. Its location at the edge of the city reflects the historical layout of religious sites during Spanish rule.

The church serves as the final Station of the Cross during Holy Week, where visitors and locals gather to pray and light candles at its altar. This spiritual practice has remained central to the religious calendar of Antigua Guatemala for centuries.
