Montecristo National Park

Montecristo National Park encompasses 19.73 square kilometers of diverse ecosystems with numerous species of plants and animals across varying elevations.

The establishment of this natural reserve in 1987 marked El Salvador's first protected area, setting a precedent for conservation in the country.

The garden of 100 years displays more than 70 species of orchids, representing 70 percent of all orchid varieties found in El Salvador.

Visitors must obtain written authorization from the Salvadoran Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources at least 48 hours before entering the park.

The park forms part of the Trifinio Fraternidad Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, connecting with protected areas in both Honduras and Guatemala.
