Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes

Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de Lourdes is a Gothic minor basilica in Bogotá built with pointed arches, ribbed vaults, and buttresses supporting three interior naves and a hexagonal apse. The interior space features ornate decoration and artistic elements that create a setting for worship and reflection.

Construction of this religious building started in 1875 under architect Julián Lombana and was completed in 1904. It replaced an earlier structure with a thatched roof that had previously occupied the site.

The church serves as a regular gathering place for the neighborhood's Catholic community during celebrations and daily worship. It remains a spiritual center that gives the surrounding Chapinero district its religious identity.

The church is located at Carrera 13 N.º 63-27 directly in front of Chapinero Plaza and is easily accessible by public transportation. Visitors should note that access may be restricted during religious services and ceremonies.

The stained glass windows inside were created by German artist Walter Wolf Wasserhouen and catch light in striking ways. This skillful work with colored glass is one of the most notable details throughout the interior.
