Guanare

Guanare is a city nestled in the foothills of the Andes in northwestern Venezuela at an elevation of 183 meters. It serves as a regional center with a significant presence in the area.

The city was founded in 1591 by Portuguese captain João Fernandes de Leão Pacheco, establishing an important settlement in the region. This founding marked the beginning of the area's development and growth.

The Sanctuary of the Virgin of Coromoto draws pilgrims who come to honor the appearance of Venezuela's patron saint at this sacred site. Visitors experience the spiritual importance this location holds for the local and national community.

The city experiences warm temperatures year-round, ranging from about 21°C to 39°C, with rain falling mainly from May through October. Visitors should plan their trips outside the rainy season for easier exploration.

The region is a major agricultural production center, yielding a diverse range of crops including cotton, coffee, tobacco, rice, and sesame. This farming activity shapes both the landscape and economy of the area.
