Historic Archive and Museum of Mining in Pachuca, Mining history museum in central Pachuca, Mexico

The Historic Archive and Museum of Mining in Pachuca is a place devoted to documenting extraction in this region over centuries. The building itself comes from the 19th century and shows neoclassical features with a layout organized around a central courtyard and surrounding gardens.

Systematic documentation of mining began in 1981 when papers from local extraction companies were gathered together. The museum became a permanent institution in 1987 to secure these valuable records for future generations.

The archive preserves memories of mining that shaped this city's identity and continues to tell its stories. Visitors find here the voices of past generations of miners who worked in the surrounding mountains.

The museum is open to visitors Tuesday through Sunday with varying times depending on the season. Plan time to walk through the rooms and outdoor areas, and note that Monday is a rest day.

The garden holds rare mining machines from the early 1900s, including a heavy Mack truck and a massive crane that show the industrial work of that era. These pieces of equipment help visitors grasp how hard and demanding work in the mines was.
