This religious building features a cruciform layout with two ribbed vaults decorated with geometric patterns and a choir section in the first body of the nave.
The original adobe temple from 1553 collapsed in 1647, leading to a new construction that took 72 years to complete, reopening for worship in 1719.
The parish houses the notable artwork 'Animas del purgatorio' by Juan Correa from 1680 and an unfinished mural titled 'Mural de los Angeles' by Jesus Becerril Martinez.
The temple maintains regular religious services and stands as part of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Tulancingo, welcoming visitors throughout the week.
The temple's side chapel displays distinct architectural elements, while the attached clergy house includes multiple windows and entrances leading to the garden.
