Puerto Morelos Lighthouse

The white cylindrical tower with red lantern reaches 14 meters in height and guides vessels through the Mexican Caribbean waters.

The initial 1905 lighthouse was replaced in 1946 by a structure that tilted during Hurricane Beulah in 1967, leading to construction of current tower.

The lighthouse represents maritime heritage and stands near the central pier where fishermen bring their daily catches of seafood.

Located at coordinates 20°50′53″N and 86°52′31″W, the lighthouse emits white light flashes every six seconds with a range of 15 nautical miles.

The previous tilted lighthouse remains standing despite damage, as attempts to remove it with tractors proved unsuccessful due to sandy foundations.
