Wonder Cave

Wonder Cave is a show cave in San Marcos that extends through multiple chambers within the Balcones Fault zone. Natural rock formations and crystalline pools line the passages throughout the underground space.

The cave was discovered in 1893 by Mark Bevers, who initially used the space for bootlegging operations. It later became a commercial tourist attraction.

The cave holds significance as the first show cave that opened to the public in Texas, recognized by the state historical commission. Visitors can see how this place became important to the region's tourism and development.
