Jersey Village was founded in 1953 by Clark W. Henry and officially incorporated as a city in 1956. Growth accelerated after a high school was built in 1972, with the population expanding from a few hundred residents in the 1960s to over 7600 by 2010.
Jersey Village took its name from Jersey cattle that founder Clark W. Henry raised on his dairy farm. The community reflects a family-oriented culture where neighborhood events and local parks are central to daily life.
Jersey Village is easily reached via US Route 290 and Farm Road 529, offering good connections to Houston and other parts of Texas. The city has a public swimming pool, a golf course, and several parks for relaxation and recreation.
The city was developed by Clark W. Henry, who subdivided the land into neighborhoods and partnered with N. E. Kennedy and Son to build the first homes. The small lakefront was originally the centerpiece of the early settlement and remains maintained by residents today.
