Hess Tower is a modern office building with 29 floors in downtown Houston. The glass and steel structure features multiple elevators and was designed by the architecture firm Gensler.
Gensler designed the tower for Trammell Crow Company, and construction finished in May 2010. Hess Corporation leased the whole building in January 2009, while it was still called Discovery Tower, and it took the tenant's name. The rooftop wind turbines were removed in December 2010.
The tower takes its present name from Hess Corporation, which leased the whole building in January 2009, when it was still called Discovery Tower. It stands beside Discovery Green, a downtown park opened in 2008, so the address pairs a corporate headquarters with a public lawn and events space.
