This three-story Victorian mansion spans 14,000 square feet with 15 rooms featuring original furnishings, ornate woodwork, stained glass windows, and a distinctive pointed tower with wrap-around balcony.
Built in 1894 by lumber magnate William Henry Stark and his wife Miriam M. Lutcher Stark, this residence reflects the prosperity brought by the East Texas lumber industry during the late 19th century.
The mansion preserves an extensive collection of period furniture, textiles, pottery, and cut glass acquired by the Stark family from around the world, showcasing the lifestyle of prominent Texas families in the early 1900s.
Open Tuesday through Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM, the museum offers guided tours for $6 adults, $5 seniors and students, with free admission for active military families through the Blue Star Museums program.
The house features an Eastlake-style wooden staircase crafted from curly longleaf yellow pine and a third-floor tower room offering panoramic views of downtown Orange that was originally designed for staff quarters.
