Pete Maravich Assembly Center, indoor arena at Louisiana State University
The Pete Maravich Assembly Center is a large indoor arena on the Louisiana State University campus in Baton Rouge. The building holds over thirteen thousand seats arranged on multiple levels around the court, offering good sightlines from almost anywhere in the venue.
The arena opened in late 1971 and was originally built with a budget of about eleven million dollars. Since then, it has undergone numerous renovations, including major upgrades to the video displays and lighting systems in 2017.
The arena is named after Pete Maravich, a basketball legend with deep roots in Louisiana whose legacy shaped the region's sports identity. On game days, you can see the community gather wearing purple and gold, turning the venue into a place where local pride becomes visible and shared.
Arrive early if you want good parking and a clear view of the court. The building has wide corridors and accessible entrances that make getting around easy, and there are restrooms and concessions throughout the venue.
Two exact replicas of the main court exist inside the practice facility and can each hold up to eight hundred people. These training spaces are fully equipped with modern facilities, including strength and conditioning areas where LSU teams prepare year-round.
