Crescent Plantation, Greek Revival plantation in Tallulah, Louisiana, US
Crescent Plantation is a Greek Revival mansion in Tallulah, Louisiana. The two-story structure features eight Doric columns supporting wide balconies that wrap across both floors of the building.
Built in 1832 with significant additions completed in 1855, the house served as the residence of a prominent family through the Civil War years. The property was later adapted for new purposes while retaining its original architectural character.
After 1902, under Annie Clark Ellis's ownership, the renamed Ellis Place provided housing, employment, and education opportunities for former enslaved individuals.
The site is located on Walnut Bayou in Madison Parish and is best visited during daylight hours. Visitors should use designated access points and maintain respectful distance from this historic building.
The plantation survived potential destruction during the Civil War because a severely ill family member was present in the house at that time.
