Liberty National Life Complex, Corporate office complex in Birmingham, Alabama

The Liberty National Life Complex is a pair of connected office buildings in Birmingham's business district. The older structure is 10 stories tall while the newer one rises to 16 stories, providing roughly 487,000 square feet of office space combined.

The original building opened in 1925 as a 10-story structure that helped define Birmingham's skyline during the post-World War I era. A second structure was added in 1952 and later underwent modernization in the early 1970s.

The complex served as headquarters for major insurance companies that shaped Birmingham's business district for generations. The buildings reflect how corporations of that era used architecture to demonstrate their stability and influence.

The complex sits in the heart of Birmingham's business district and is easy to spot and reach. Plan to visit during regular business hours when the main entrances are active and the surrounding streets are busy.

A 36-foot replica of the Statue of Liberty stood atop the original building until 1989, when it was relocated to nearby Liberty Park. This unusual decoration was visible across much of the city and became a local landmark in its own right.
