Breña District

Breña is an administrative district in central Lima's metropolitan area spread across a compact urban footprint. Multiple main avenues run through the neighborhood, connecting residential and commercial zones throughout.

The area once held several sacred sites from the Maranga culture before they disappeared during urban expansion in the 1940s. These archaeological remains were displaced as the neighborhood developed into its modern form.

Plaza Bolognesi serves as a gathering place for annual commemorations and honors the war hero Francisco Bolognesi through its name and design. The plaza shapes the character of this neighborhood and connects locals to historical memory.

The neighborhood is easy to navigate through several wide avenues that connect to other parts of Lima. Pedestrians should be mindful of busier streets and use the main thoroughfares for orientation.

Peru's Immigration Office is located on Avenida España and draws many international visitors daily. This makes the compact neighborhood an important administrative hub for people from around the world.
