Kyalami

Kyalami is a motor racing circuit in Midrand, South Africa, that stretches across 4.5 kilometers through terrain marked by natural elevation changes. The anti-clockwise layout winds through 16 corners, creating a varied track profile.

The facility opened in 1961 and welcomed the Formula One South African Grand Prix 20 times between 1967 and 1993. Following renovations in 2015, the track received FIA Grade 2 certification, making it the only one of its kind on the African continent.

The facility represents South Africa's primary connection to international motorsport, hosting numerous racing categories and driver development programs throughout the year.

The complex includes a modern conference center and two exhibition platforms that serve visitors during events. The track can be divided into different sections to accommodate training sessions and varied racing formats.

The track sits at roughly 1,600 meters (5,250 feet) above sea level, where thinner air affects engine performance and vehicle handling. This condition challenges drivers and technicians with specific adjustments during setup.
