The Smuts House Museum occupies a wood-and-iron farmhouse surrounded by green meadows and gardens filled with indigenous trees and shrubs planted by Jan Smuts.
From 1910 to 1950, this residence belonged to General Jan Smuts, who served as a military leader, statesman, and philosopher in South Africa.
The museum preserves the personal items, furniture, and memorabilia that reflect the modest lifestyle and intellectual pursuits of the Smuts family.
The museum welcomes visitors daily from 9:30 to 16:30 on weekdays and until 17:00 on weekends, offering guided tours, educational programs, and a tea garden.
A 2.3-kilometer walking trail leads to Smuts Koppie, where a granite obelisk marks the location where the ashes of Jan Smuts and his wife rest.
