Chissioua Bandrélé, Uninhabited island in Mayotte, France
The islet stands 51 meters above sea level, featuring sandy beaches, rocky points, and small coves surrounded by fringing coral reefs.
The island previously supported agricultural activities and goat farming before becoming a protected natural reserve within the Mayotte Marine Park.
The island serves as a nesting ground for the Comoros swift, which in Mayotte exclusively nests on this particular islet.
Three mooring buoys allow boats to anchor safely near the island, located 2.5 kilometers from Plage De Sakouli and accessible by kayak.
The endangered Mayotte snake inhabits the island, making it a crucial location for the preservation of this critically threatened species.
