Landfair Apartments, Student housing complex in Westwood, Los Angeles, United States
Landfair Apartments is a residential complex of two buildings at the intersection of Landfair Avenue and Ophir Drive in Westwood. The ensemble offers various floor plans ranging from studios to two-bedroom apartments with total capacity for about 184 students.
Designed in 1937 by renowned architect Richard Neutra in the International style, the complex originally comprised five townhouses and two apartments. It was repurposed as student housing in 1941 and has served UCLA students ever since.
Residents practice shared living principles and self-governance in their daily routines. This approach shapes how students interact and support one another in the complex.
Access is available via Landfair Avenue from nearby Westwood Boulevard, and the location is easily walkable from local transit. Keep in mind this is an active student residence with limited public access, so respect residents' privacy during visits.
One original apartment preserves Neutra's design details from the 1930s, offering a rare glimpse into his architectural language of that era. This unaltered unit displays the subtle proportions and functional elements that defined his work.
