No Name Key, Residential island in Lower Keys, United States.

No Name Key is a residential island situated between the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, covered with dense vegetation and natural shorelines. Around 40 homes are scattered across the land, creating a sparse settlement woven into the natural landscape.

The island once served as a ferry terminal before the Overseas Highway replaced an earlier rail system that connected the Keys. This modern connection eventually allowed people to settle here and build a remote community.

People here chose to live apart from the grid for decades, shaping a community that values independence and closeness to nature. This history of self-reliance still influences how residents connect with their surroundings today.

The island is reached by a concrete bridge from Big Pine Key, accessible from US Highway 1 in the area. Visitors should note the location is remote, and services and facilities are minimal here.

The island shelters Key deer, a small and rare species found only in this region of Florida. These animals are perfectly adapted to island living and represent a precious part of the local ecosystem.
