Middlesex County

Middlesex County is an administrative region spanning central Jamaica, encompassing five parishes with diverse geography ranging from coastal areas to mountainous terrain. The region includes several key towns such as Spanish Town, May Pen, and Mandeville that serve as important urban centers.

British colonial authorities established Middlesex County in 1758 as one of three administrative divisions in Jamaica. This territorial organization followed the British governance structure and shaped the regional framework of the island for centuries to come.

The five parishes of Middlesex County maintain different traditions through local markets, food specialties, and regional celebrations throughout the calendar year.

The region is connected by a network of roads linking the various towns and enabling travel throughout the area. Main routes pass through Spanish Town, May Pen, Mandeville, and the northern coastal towns, providing access to different parts of the county.
