Nord-Est

Nord-Est is an administrative department in northern Haiti that stretches along the Atlantic coast and borders the Dominican Republic. The department is divided into several administrative districts, with Fort-Liberté serving as its administrative center.

The department was established in 1801 when Toussaint Louverture set up the first administrative structure for the region. The current administrative divisions grew from this original foundation.
