Cabarete

Cabarete is a kitesurfing destination on the Dominican coast with four main zones: La Boca River, Bozo Beach, Kite Beach, and Cabarete Bay. Each area offers different water and wind conditions suitable for different skill levels and riding styles.

Cabarete transformed from a small fishing village in the 1980s into an international water sports center, initially through windsurfing. The rise of kitesurfing in subsequent decades established it as a globally recognized destination.

Local freestyle riders train daily at Cabarete beaches, contributing to the development of professional athletes who compete in international kiteboarding championships.

The best time for activities is from midday until around 6 pm, when wind speeds average 20 to 25 knots. Water temperatures remain warm throughout the year, making a visit comfortable at any season.

Several schools and beach cafés cater specifically to digital nomads, who can work and enjoy the water sports lifestyle simultaneously. This mix has turned the place into a hub for remote workers who often stay for months.
