Ponce De Leon Boutique Hotel, Hotel in den Vereinigten Staaten
The Ponce De Leon Boutique Hotel is a Mission Revival style hotel located downtown St. Petersburg at the corner of Central Avenue and Beach Drive. The six-story 1922 building features smooth stucco walls, decorative stone ornaments, arched windows, and tile-covered balconies with wooden brackets.
The hotel was built in 1922 by architect George Feltham during Florida's real estate boom as one of the first large buildings along the waterfront. This period marked a shift from small inns to larger, more permanent hotels as St. Petersburg became a popular winter destination.
The hotel's name honors a Spanish explorer and its design blends American growth with Spanish influences. Inside, flamenco paintings line the hallways and the attached restaurant offers Spanish tapas with live music nights.
The hotel sits in the busy downtown area with easy access to nearby shops, art galleries, and music venues. Parking is available in the area and many guests explore on foot to reach restaurants and bars within short walking distance.
The entrance was originally defined by five open arches supported by brick piers but was later enclosed with glass. This change shows how the building adapted to changing needs while its historic structure remained intact.
