El Vernona Apartments is a residential complex with an L-shaped footprint and light stucco walls, containing twenty furnished units spread across the structure. The construction combines smooth surfaces with cast stone accents and creates a cohesive residential block.

The complex was constructed in 1926 as part of a larger vision to develop the Sarasota Bay neighborhood. The project reflected the city's rapid expansion during that era and how new residential areas were being created.

The building displays Mediterranean Revival style that became fashionable in 1920s Florida, showing how residents wanted to live at that time. The curved lines and light-colored facade still shape the character of the street today.

The building sits on Broadway in central Sarasota and is easy to locate. The surrounding area has many shops and attractions within walking distance, making it convenient to explore nearby.

The project was part of an ambitious vision by developer Owen Burns, who reshaped large areas of Sarasota. His investments shaped the city for generations and transformed certain neighborhoods into what they are today.
