Hibiscus Island, Private residential island in Miami Beach, United States

Hibiscus Island is a private residential community featuring grand waterfront estates with personal boat docks overlooking Biscayne Bay. The island's layout includes tree-lined streets, manicured gardens, and exclusive homes spread across its compact area.

The island was created in 1922 when the Army Corps of Engineers dredged waterways, forming this land along with Palm and Star Islands nearby. This engineering project opened the area to residential development and exclusive settlement.

The island's tree-lined streets and manicured gardens reflect the quiet elegance that wealthy residents sought when building their homes here. Today, the peaceful residential streets feel removed from the nearby Miami Beach bustle, creating a secluded community within the city.

Access to the island requires passing through a gated entrance connected to the MacArthur Causeway. The residential nature of the community means public access is restricted, so exploration is best appreciated from viewpoints on surrounding causeways.

The island once hosted the Latin Quarter nightclub, which drew famous performers including Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin during the 1940s and 1950s. This nightlife chapter has since faded from memory, making it a little-known piece of Miami Beach's golden era.
