South Florida National Cemetery

South Florida National Cemetery is a military burial ground covering 313 acres with organized sections containing more than 33,000 grave sites for veterans. The grounds are neatly landscaped with marked areas and clear pathways to help visitors navigate and locate burial plots.

The cemetery opened in 2007 as Florida's fifth national burial site and the 125th within the United States national cemetery system. It was established to meet growing demand for veteran burial space in the region.

This cemetery serves as a gathering place where families come to honor fallen service members, particularly on national holidays with ceremonies and floral tributes. The practice of remembering loved ones shapes how visitors experience and use this space.

The administrative office is open Monday through Friday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM, while the grounds are accessible daily from sunrise to sunset. Wear comfortable shoes and allow time to locate specific burial sites, as the expansive grounds require careful navigation.

The Veterans Legacy Memorial platform connects the cemetery to a database storing digital tributes and military service records for each interred veteran. This allows visitors and families to discover and share the service history of their loved ones online.
