Magic Kingdom, Entertainment park in Bay Lake, Florida, US
Magic Kingdom is a theme park in Bay Lake, Florida, US, organized into six themed lands with rides, shows, and entertainment venues radiating from Cinderella Castle at its center. Paths lead outward from the castle, connecting sections designed to resemble an American small town, a futuristic city, a tropical island, a western frontier town, a fairy-tale forest, and an adventure zone.
The park opened on October 1, 1971, with twenty-three attractions and two hotels, launching the first phase of Walt Disney World Resort. Over the following decades, new sections were added and existing rides were expanded or replaced with newer technology.
Visitors from around the world gather in costume, singing along with parades that feature characters from films, books, and animated series. Families stand together in front of the castle each evening for fireworks, creating a shared moment that spans many languages and cultures.
Wheelchairs and strollers can be rented on site, and first aid stations are located in several areas across the grounds. A mobile app allows restaurant reservations, displays wait times, and helps with orientation throughout the property.
The entire park sits on a second floor above a network of underground tunnels that let staff move between sections without being seen by visitors. These passageways also contain break rooms, changing areas, and storage space for costumes and props.
