The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh, Dark ride in Fantasyland, Hong Kong and Shanghai Disneyland Park, China
The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh is a dark ride in Fantasyland at Hong Kong Disneyland and Shanghai Disneyland Park in China. Passengers sit in honey pot vehicles and move through different scenes from the Hundred Acre Wood with figures like Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore.
The Hong Kong Disneyland version began operation on September 12, 2005, and was the first version of this ride in an Asian Disney park. The Shanghai installation followed more than ten years later on June 16, 2016, when that park opened.
The ride takes its form from A.A. Milne's stories and presents figures from the Disney animated version of Winnie the Pooh through moving puppets and rebuilt settings. Visitors travel in honey pots through the Hundred Acre Wood and meet Piglet, Tigger and Eeyore in their familiar surroundings.
Children under seven need someone sixteen or older with them, and wheelchair users can board without transferring. The ride takes place in darkened rooms, so younger children may be surprised by the changing light effects.
One scene shows heffalumps and woozles, fantasy creatures from Pooh's nightmares, moving between changing colors and musical effects. The vehicles rock gently during this sequence to reinforce the dreamlike impression.
