Stitch's Great Escape!, Interactive amusement ride in Tomorrowland, Magic Kingdom, US.
Stitch's Great Escape was an attraction with theater-style seating and shoulder restraints where visitors participated in a space-themed adventure featuring Experiment 626. The ride used effects like water sprays, temperature changes, and motion to bring the story to life.
The ride opened in November 2004 and replaced the earlier ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter that had occupied the same space. After more than a decade of continuous operation, the attraction moved to seasonal hours in 2016 before eventually closing.
The place was tied to the film Lilo & Stitch and aimed to bring visitors into the world of this character. Animators from the original film contributed to the moving animations that visitors saw during the experience.
Visitors had to be at least 40 inches tall to safely participate. The shoulder restraints were secure, so it was important to familiarize yourself with safety requirements before boarding.
The ride was known for two plasma cannons together weighing over 3200 pounds that were meant to track Stitch's DNA. These heavy machines were impressive technical components based on film technology from the original movie.
