Mr. Toad's Wild Ride

Mr. Toad's Wild Ride is a dark ride in Fantasyland at Disneyland Park in California, where passengers are sent through winding sets in open vintage cars. The track passes through several rooms featuring animated figures, painted backdrops, and sudden turns that recreate a frantic chase.

This ride was among the first attractions to operate when the park opened on July 17, 1955. The installation was completely renovated in 1983, with new scenes and effects replacing the originals.

The name comes from Kenneth Grahame's tale about a wealthy and reckless toad whose love of adventure leads him into trouble. Disney turned this literary figure into a ride where guests relive his impulsive character by racing through manor houses, stables, and dark alleyways.

The ride lasts about three minutes and suits all age groups, though children under seven must be accompanied by an adult. The cars move quickly through low doorways and tight curves, so you should sit upright and keep arms and hands inside the vehicle.

The track ends in a dark tunnel scene where an approaching train appears to run over passengers. Another set then opens up, designed as an underground realm playing with red lights and dancing shadows.
