Dumbo the Flying Elephant, Aerial carousel ride in Hong Kong Disneyland, China.
Dumbo the Flying Elephant is a carousel at Hong Kong Disneyland where visitors circle in elephant vehicles around a central tower. The 16 gondolas hang from mechanical arms that rotate slowly during the ride and offer a gentle motion.
The attraction opened in 2005 together with the entire Hong Kong Disneyland and followed the design of the 1955 California version. Over the years, the basic concept remained unchanged while other park areas were redesigned.
The attraction recreates one of the oldest rides from the Disney universe, already familiar to young children on their first park visit. Families often use the ride as a gentle start to the day before moving on to other areas.
The ride operates throughout the day as long as the park is open, and each round lasts about 90 seconds. Queues usually form in the morning and early evening, while midday tends to be quieter.
Passengers can control the flight height of their elephant during rotation by operating a lever inside the gondola. The area beneath the carousel displays gardens and water features designed specifically for the Asian location.
