Casey Jr. Circus Train, Circus-themed train ride in Disneyland Park, California, US.
Casey Jr. Circus Train is a rail ride in Disneyland Park, California, that carries passengers in brightly painted circus wagons along a winding track. The route curves through a miniature world with replica castles, villages and scenes from different stories, all clearly visible from the elevated rail.
The train began running in California in 1955 as part of the park's original attractions shortly after Disneyland opened. A second version appeared in Paris in 1994 as a roller coaster with different track length and design that differs from the Californian model.
The name comes from the film Dumbo and shows a locomotive with a cheerful face that sings its way through tiny landscapes. Visitors sit in open animal cars or caged wagons that recall traveling circus trains and are especially popular with children.
The journey lasts just under four minutes and runs in a loop through an open landscape, offering clear views from all sides. Wheelchair users must transfer into the train, as the wagons are not built to accommodate mobility aids directly.
Arrow Development built this narrow gauge train with an internal combustion engine that offers elevated views of miniature scenes hidden from other spots in the park. The track shares its grounds with a second ride, so both attractions show the same landscapes from different angles.
