DeBary Hall, Historic hunting estate in DeBary, Florida, US.
DeBary Hall is a 19th-century winter estate located in central Florida near the town of DeBary. The main residence displays Victorian-era architecture with original outbuildings and stables preserved on the surrounding grounds.
Frederick deBary, a German-born wine importer, commissioned the main house in 1871 and it became the oldest surviving structure in southwest Volusia County. The property passed through several ownership changes as Florida developed around it.
The deBary family invited wealthy guests to hunting expeditions and social gatherings, establishing this as a destination for the elite seeking leisure in Florida's frontier landscape. The grand rooms reflect the refined tastes of those who gathered here during the Gilded Age.
The property is located on Sunrise Boulevard and welcomes visitors for guided tours of the historic rooms and grounds. Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring the house and outbuildings at a leisurely pace.
The property featured one of Florida's earliest spring-fed pools, which required daily filling and emptying through a mechanical pump system. This innovative water feature reflected how wealthy residents pursued comfort in the frontier era.
