Orange City Historic District

Orange City Historic District is a preserved neighborhood with over 200 historic buildings spread across several streets. The collection includes homes, businesses, and community buildings, mostly dating from the late 1800s and still shaping the town's character today.

The district developed in the second half of the 1800s as Orange City grew into a trading and residential center. The area was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004 to recognize this early chapter of the town's story.

The center of town revolves around older buildings that still define how the place looks and where people gather for local events today. These structures speak to a smaller Florida where commerce and community were tightly linked.

The best way to explore the district is on foot, walking the streets to see the different building styles and details up close. Keep in mind that many buildings are still privately owned and lived in, so respect for residents is important.

The oldest operating hotel in the region, dating to 1876, is located here and its continued use shows how the place has endured. The building still functions much as it did over a century ago when it first opened.
