Lithonia is a city in DeKalb County in eastern Georgia situated at an elevation of 282 meters (925 feet) across residential and commercial zones. The municipality spans approximately 441 acres and blends established neighborhoods with commercial areas.
The settlement began in 1805 and grew substantially after 1845 when the Atlanta Augusta Railroad was established, which boosted the granite industry. This rail connection transformed the area into an important center for stone extraction and economic growth.
