BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir Atlanta

The BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir is a Hindu temple in Lilburn featuring an intricate architectural design built with white marble, cream-colored limestone, and pink sandstone spread across expansive grounds. The interior houses multiple prayer halls, shrines, and meditation spaces arranged to guide visitors through the spiritual environment.

The community began in the 1980s when Hindu worshippers gathered in private homes before later finding space in a converted skating rink. The current temple took shape through years of planning and community effort, with construction starting in 2005 as the sacred space was developed.

The temple serves as a gathering place for the local Hindu community, where people come together to pray and celebrate religious holidays with their families and neighbors. Visitors can witness the devotional practices taking place in the decorated chambers and feel the reverence throughout the space.

The temple is located in Lilburn and remains open daily for visitors with ample parking available on the grounds. Guests should know that removing shoes before entering the inner sanctuaries is required, and modest clothing is recommended out of respect.

This is the largest traditional Hindu temple of its architectural style built anywhere outside India, constructed entirely by an international team of artisans using classical Indian hand-carving techniques. Every detail and carved ornament was created by hand, offering a rare glimpse into traditional craftsmanship rarely seen beyond India.
