Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum, Event venue at Zoo Atlanta, United States
The Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum is a historic building in Georgia Park within Zoo Atlanta that now forms part of Savanna Hall, a facility spread across four floors. Its largest space, the Michael and Thalia Carlos Ballroom, offers views of wildlife habitats and serves as a venue for private and corporate events.
The building was erected in 1921 and housed the Cyclorama painting, a large-scale circular canvas from the Civil War era, for over nine decades. After the painting was relocated, the structure was transformed in 2020 into a modern event facility with new functions.
The facility maintains elements of its past with original terra cotta walls and restored terrazzo flooring while incorporating contemporary design elements throughout the space.
The property sits in Grant Park, Atlanta's oldest public park, and is part of the zoo grounds, accessible by car or public transport. Visitors should note that the building operates as an event venue and may not be freely accessible during private bookings.
The original terra cotta walls and restored terrazzo flooring from the construction period combine with modern design, creating a mix of historical fabric and contemporary use. From the Delta Savanna Terrace, visitors can watch African elephants, giraffes, and zebras while also taking in views across the old park.
