Built in 1908 after a fire destroyed the previous structure, this courthouse represents the sixth iteration of judicial buildings at this location.
The courthouse interior contains a portrait of John C. Calhoun, who started his legal career in a law firm that once stood at this exact location.
The ground floor contains administrative offices while the second floor houses the main courtroom with three stained glass windows behind the judge's position.
A brick arcade physically connects the courthouse to the Abbeville Opera House, creating an integrated municipal complex in the town square.
