Foothill Observatory, Astronomical observatory at Foothill College, Los Altos Hills, California.
The observatory contains a 16-inch Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector telescope and a hydrogen-alpha solar telescope for detailed celestial observations.
The facility opened in 1965 on the Foothill College campus and received a new Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope donation in 2007.
The Silicon Valley Astronomy Lecture Series brings Nobel laureates and scientists to present astronomical developments in everyday language.
Free public viewing sessions occur every Friday from 9 to 11 PM and solar observations take place on Saturdays from 10 AM to noon.
The Peninsula Astronomical Society partners with Foothill College to maintain the observatory and provide educational programs at no cost.
