Kashia Band of Pomo Indians of the Stewarts Point Rancheria, Indigenous reservation in Sonoma County, California.
The Stewarts Point Rancheria is a reservation along the Pacific coast featuring two ceremonial round houses and a community center with tribal offices. Approximately 860 members live across several counties in the region while tribal government operations are based in Santa Rosa.
The Kashia people inhabited the coastal region between the Gualala River and Duncan's Point before European contact significantly reduced their population. These areas have been home to this community for countless generations.
The band maintains the Pomoan language and traditional practices through educational programs and ceremonial gatherings that continue today. These cultural activities remain central to community life and connect people to their heritage.
The tribal center in Santa Rosa is the main location for administrative matters and community information. Visitors should inquire in advance since not all areas are open to the public.
In 2015 the band regained access to nearly 700 acres of ancestral coastal lands that had been unavailable for management for a long time. Today they use these areas to teach and practice their traditional forest management methods.
