Saint Herman of Alaska Brotherhood is an Orthodox Christian monastery set in the forested hills near Platina in northern California. The community is made up of monks who follow the Eastern Orthodox tradition, spending their days in prayer, study, and work.
The Brotherhood was founded in 1967 by Seraphim Rose and Herman Podmoshensky, who wanted to bring Orthodox Christian teaching to English-speaking people. Both founders came to be venerated as saints after their deaths.
