Folsom is a city in Sacramento County, California, that spreads over gentle hills along the American River. The layout shows residential neighborhoods and business districts connected by trails for walking and cycling.
Joseph Libbey Folsom bought land in the 1850s for a new settlement, first called Granite City and later renamed after him. The railroad arrived in the late 19th century and sped up growth in the town.
